Akron Environmental Justice Coalition is comprised of multiple organizations throughout the city fighting for environmental justice issues. Born out of the Horrible Horrigan years of environmental degradation, the group held Akron’s first ever environmental candidate forums for both city council and mayor in Spring of 2023. Followed by a listening campaign throughout the city in summer of 2023. Concerns were then listed and included in Mayor Malick’s 100 day plan in 2024, followed by an Appreciative Inquiry summit in January of 2024.
